Rep. MTG Doubles Down On Gov. Kemp, Claims Officials Should “Use Their Power” To Fight Fani Willis

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has continually called for officials in her state to launch a criminal probe into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as allegations of corruption have surfaced.  Greene has specifically pushed for Georgia Gov. Kemp to investigate Willis, claiming he has the ultimate authority to lead such an initiative.

However, Kemp recently dismissed MTG’s request for a criminal probe, directing the congresswoman to file a complaint with Georgia’s oversight committee.  The American Tribune covered the news, reporting on the comments from a spokesperson of Gov. Kemp.

“The Congresswoman has every right to refer her complaint to the oversight commission once the legislative process concludes this session and the commission begins full operations.  Just last year, the Georgia General Assembly laid out a specific oversight process for district attorneys that is transparent and unbiased, which the governor supported and signed into law,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson continued, “These allegations are deeply troubling and evidence should be presented quickly. Georgians must have confidence in our legal system and its procedures, and these allegations — in addition to the lack of direct response from District Attorney Willis — jeopardize that confidence.”

MTG maintains that Gov. Kemp and Attorney General Chris Carr should utilize their political power to hold the Trump prosecutor accountable for the alleged misconduct.  “I believe our governor and our state attorney general should use their power to go after a state district attorney who is abusing her power and going after the former president of the United States,” Greene stated.  The congresswoman further claimed the governor was “washing” his while stating she was “not a lone voice out there saying this.”

However, Greene did agree that a committee process is generally an effective measure in such causes, but for the sake of Trump and his co-defendants, no time can be wasted in such bureaucratic processes. “They had an oversight committee planned but it got blocked in court,” Greene claimed, “and now they’re trying to create another one in the state legislature.”

MTG illustrated the tangible impact such prosecutions are having on conservative co-defendants who are pouring financial resources into legal fees.  “These people are being drained of money while they’re having to pay lawyers. They have incredible stress in their lives and their families’ lives,” she said. “This is affecting real people in Georgia.”

The Georgia representative continued to hit home on the key point she is stressing:  Kemp and Carr have sufficient political power to go after DA Willis, and they should hold her accountable in the interest of conservative causes.  Greene maintains that Willis is “abusing her power” to politically persecute Donald Trump.

“Governor Kemp and our state Attorney General Chris Carr need to step in and do the job that they have the power to do, and that is to launch a criminal investigation into Willis and Nathan Wade,” Greene doubled down. “They have the power to go after a state district attorney who is abusing her power to go after the former president of the United States.”
